Mixing
I have had the pleasure of working with Mr. Dream on many occasions, and I was thrilled when the band asked me to mix three songs for their debut full-length Trash Hit.
Mr. Dream drummer/producer Nick Sylvester tracked the record masterfully, capturing vivid guitar, drum and bass tones with some of my favorite microphones. For album standout "Unfinished Business" I applied minimal processing, using some compression and subtle room reverb to bring out the texture and space of the individual tracks.
I took a more aggressive approach with "Croquet," heavily compressing the stereo drum room mics and bringing up the bass DI front and center. To make the guitar blasts more pronounced, I ran a spare scratch guitar track through an emulated Digitech Whammy pedal.
Trash Hit was mastered by Joe Lambert, and was released on March 1st, 2011.
